Linosa is a round plush bed in two sizes — 40 × 40 cm or 50 × 50 cm — 15 cm high, with a padded rim standing up around a quilted sleeping surface.
Cats sleep curled, with their spine against something. A flat mat gives them nothing to lean on; a raised rim gives them a wall on every side and somewhere to rest a chin. It is the single feature that decides whether a bed gets used or becomes a rug.
The stitching stops the filling migrating to the edges, which is how a cheap bed becomes a thin bed after two months of being trodden into shape.
A non-slip base holds the bed still when a cat launches out of it — on a wooden floor, an unweighted bed travels a little further every time until it ends up against a skirting board.
That is the guideline for this size. It fits an average adult cat curled; a large breed will overhang the rim rather than settle inside it.
