Palmarola is a plush cave: an enclosed shell with an entrance at the front and a separate cushion inside. It folds flat, and the cushion lifts out to be washed on its own.
Some cats sleep in the open and some sleep hidden — under a bed, inside a box, behind a sofa. The second group ignores an open basket entirely. A cave gives them a roof and a single entrance to watch, which is the arrangement they choose for themselves when left to it.
This is the practical difference between a cave you keep and one you throw away. A one-piece cave is awkward to clean; here the cushion is removable and washable, so the part that takes the hair and the dust is the part you can put through a wash.
The structure collapses flat for storage or for taking to a holiday house — useful for a cat that travels, because arriving with its own bed is one familiar smell in an unfamiliar room.
Under 3 kg for the 31 × 27 cm, under 5 kg for the 37 × 31 cm, and over 5 kg for the largest, at 41 × 35 cm. Judge that size on its footprint: a cave has to be small enough to feel like a den and large enough for the cat to turn around in.
