Villasimius is a laser toy that does both jobs: left on the floor it moves and spins by itself, picked up it becomes an ordinary pointer you aim.
Automatic play fills the hours when nobody is home — the cat starts a hunt on its own schedule rather than waiting for yours. Handheld play is different in kind: you can lead the cat somewhere, slow the dot down when it gets close, and let it catch up. Cats read intention in a hand-led dot that a motor cannot fake, and both matter.
Movement is what triggers a cat's chase. An unpredictable dot gets an indoor animal sprinting and turning in a way no static toy does — which for a cat that never hunts outdoors is most of its daily exercise.
Treat it as you would any laser: never across eyes, human or animal. And end each session by letting the cat catch something physical — a dot can never be caught, and a hunt with no conclusion leaves an animal wound up rather than satisfied.
