Trevi is a ceramic bowl with the raised foot built into it — a single fired piece rather than a dish sitting in a metal frame. It holds 200 ml and has a matte finish.
Plastic scratches, and the scratches hold old food and moisture no matter how well the bowl is washed. Ceramic keeps a hard glazed surface that wipes clean and does not take on smells. It is also heavy enough to stay put when a cat pushes into it — a light bowl travels across the floor while the cat chases it.
A bowl lifted off the floor means a cat eats without dropping its head to ground level. Cats also tend to stand more squarely at a raised bowl instead of crouching, which is simply more comfortable for an older animal with stiff shoulders.
