Alicudi is a round plush bed built as a single sewn piece: a raised rim forming a continuous ring, and a flat sleeping surface in the middle. The whole thing is covered in synthetic plush fur, inside and out, in three diameters.
A flat mat asks a cat to hold its own shape. A rim that runs unbroken around the bed means there is a wall to lean against at any angle — which matters, because cats do not choose an orientation and stick to it. This is the difference between a cat that lies on a bed and one that settles into it.
There is a maximum pet weight for each size, and it is the number that decides the choice: 40 cm up to 2.5 kg, 50 cm up to 5 kg, 60 cm up to 10 kg. In practice the 40 cm is a kitten bed, the 50 cm suits the average adult cat, and the 60 cm is the one to take for a Maine Coon, a Norwegian or simply a cat that likes to stretch out rather than curl up. A cat that overhangs the rim will sleep on the floor instead.
There is no cover to unzip and no insert to pull out. Care: machine wash the bed on its own in cold water, without bleach, and tumble dry on a low setting. That is one step, not four, and it is the reason a plush bed stays usable past the first month.
The underside is stated to be non-slip and water-resistant, for tiled and wooden floors. Useful on two counts: a round bed that skates across a hard floor when a cat jumps into it gets abandoned, and the water-resistant layer keeps an accident from reaching the floor underneath.

Put the bed on the spot the cat has already chosen instead of the spot you had in mind, and leave something in it that smells of the household — a worn t-shirt works better than anything sold for the purpose. Raised rims and enclosed shapes are usually taken up faster than flat mats, because a cat wants something at its back.
It depends on how your cat already sleeps, and you know the answer without asking: a cat that curls up in cupboards and under beds wants an enclosed one, while a cat that sprawls in the middle of the floor will ignore a cave and use an open bed. In a household with two cats, one of each is a safer bet than two of the same.
Wash it before it needs it rather than after — every few weeks, and always at the end of a moult. What this particular bed allows is set out under Care & assembly, since some wash whole and others have a cover that lifts off. An afternoon airing in the sun does more than any spray.
Cats accept new things on their own timetable. Put it where your cat already chooses to be — the sunny corner, the room the household uses most — and leave it alone for a few days rather than presenting it. A little catnip helps on anything meant to be slept on or scratched. Anything worn or handled should be left out to be sniffed and walked away from several times before you use it.
