Description

Alghero is a rope-wrapped ball held on an axle inside an A-frame of solid wood. The ball turns under a paw; the frame stays where you put it.

A toy that cannot escape

This is the difference from a loose ball. Every loose toy in a house ends its life under the sofa, and the cat's interest ends with it. A ball fixed on an axle stays in play indefinitely — it spins, resists, and is still there the next morning.

Scratching and batting at once

The rope surface takes claws, so a cat that rakes at it gets the resistance of a scratching surface with the movement of a toy. That combination holds attention longer than either alone, and it suits a kitten learning what its claws are for.

Wood, not plastic

A four-point wooden frame with horizontal bars front and back. It has enough weight and spread to stay put when a cat throws itself at the ball, and it looks like an object rather than pet equipment.

Two sizes

Both stand 16 cm high and 18 cm deep. One is 18 cm wide with a 12 cm ball, the other 22 cm wide with a 16 cm ball — the larger suits an adult cat using its whole paw, the smaller a kitten.

On the rope

Natural fibre, which frays into strands under a claw rather than shedding dust.

Cat Scratching Ball Alghero in v type — shown at home with cats

Scratching is not a fault

It is how a cat stretches, sheds the worn outer layer of its claws and marks the places it cares about. It cannot be trained out — only redirected to something meant for it.

Where it should go

Next to where your cat sleeps is the surest spot: most cats scratch as soon as they wake, with a long stretch, before doing anything else.

Why choose Cat Palace

Because your cat deserves better than the first listing that comes up — and so does your home.

Designed around how cats behave

Something to scratch that is not the sofa — upright, flat or free-standing, to match the way your cat already scratches.

Facts before adjectives

The scratching surface named and measured, rather than “durable” and “cat-approved”.

Free delivery, free returns

Every order ships free and comes back free for 30 days. No restocking fee, no argument.

Frequently asked questions

My cat still scratches the sofa. Why?

Because the sofa is on the route it uses and the scratcher is not. Cats scratch to stretch and to leave a mark where they pass, so put this against the corner being damaged rather than across the room. Once it has been used for a week or two you can move it a little at a time.

Vertical or flat — which does my cat want?

Watch what it does to the furniture. A cat that reaches up the side of an armchair wants something vertical it can stretch against at full length; a cat that rakes the rug or the carpet wants something flat on the floor. Choosing the wrong orientation is the commonest reason a scratcher is never touched.

How long does sisal last?

Months to years, depending on the cat. Sisal is meant to shred — a frayed post is a used post, not a broken one. Trim loose strands with scissors rather than pulling them, which unwinds the whole wrap.

Will my cat actually use it?

Cats accept new things on their own timetable. Put it where your cat already chooses to be — the sunny corner, the room the household uses most — and leave it alone for a few days rather than presenting it. A little catnip helps on anything meant to be slept on or scratched. Anything worn or handled should be left out to be sniffed and walked away from several times before you use it.

What if it does not suit my cat?

You have 30 days from delivery to send it back. Returns are free and the refund goes to the payment method you used. You do not need to give a reason.
