Description

Stintino is a flat sisal mat that goes wherever the cat has decided to scratch. Four hook-and-loop strips are supplied, so it can lie on the floor, hang on a wall or a door, or fix to the side of the piece of furniture your cat has already chosen.

Put it on the problem

That is the argument for a mat over a post. A cat that has adopted the corner of the sofa is not going to walk across the room to a post; it will use a sisal surface fixed to the exact spot it already scratches. The mat adapts to the cat's habit instead of asking the cat to change it.

Flat scratching is a real preference

Cats divide into those that stretch upright against a post and those that scratch horizontally, claws raked backwards. A vertical post does nothing for the second group. This mat serves both, depending on how you mount it.

The latex backing

On the floor, an unbacked mat slides away on the first stroke. The anti-skid latex is what holds it still while a cat pulls against it.

Two shapes

Rectangular, 40 × 60 cm, or square. The photographs show the difference in proportion.

One thing to check before mounting

Test on a hidden corner before fixing to painted plaster or a finished wooden door.

Scratching is not a fault

It is how a cat stretches, sheds the worn outer layer of its claws and marks the places it cares about. It cannot be trained out — only redirected to something meant for it.

Where it should go

Next to where your cat sleeps is the surest spot: most cats scratch as soon as they wake, with a long stretch, before doing anything else.

Why choose Cat Palace

Because your cat deserves better than the first listing that comes up — and so does your home.

Frequently asked questions

My cat still scratches the sofa. Why?

Because the sofa is on the route it uses and the scratcher is not. Cats scratch to stretch and to leave a mark where they pass, so put this against the corner being damaged rather than across the room. Once it has been used for a week or two you can move it a little at a time.

Vertical or flat — which does my cat want?

Watch what it does to the furniture. A cat that reaches up the side of an armchair wants something vertical it can stretch against at full length; a cat that rakes the rug or the carpet wants something flat on the floor. Choosing the wrong orientation is the commonest reason a scratcher is never touched.

How long does sisal last?

Months to years, depending on the cat. Sisal is meant to shred — a frayed post is a used post, not a broken one. Trim loose strands with scissors rather than pulling them, which unwinds the whole wrap.

Will my cat actually use it?

Cats accept new things on their own timetable. Put it where your cat already chooses to be — the sunny corner, the room the household uses most — and leave it alone for a few days rather than presenting it. A little catnip helps on anything meant to be slept on or scratched. Anything worn or handled should be left out to be sniffed and walked away from several times before you use it.

What if it does not suit my cat?

You have 30 days from delivery to send it back. Returns are free and the refund goes to the payment method you used. You do not need to give a reason.
