Marettimo is an oval bed padded throughout with polyester fibre: a raised rim around the edge and a cushioned sleeping surface in the middle, made as one piece. Two sizes, four colourways.
A circle forces a cat to curl. An oval gives it a long axis, so the same bed works for a cat that sleeps rolled into a ball and for one that lies out with its back legs extended. It is a small difference in shape that decides whether a cat uses a bed every night or only in winter.
Cats sleep with their chin raised more often than flat. The padded rim gives them that, all the way round, and it holds the sleeping surface in a shallow dish rather than letting it flatten out.
The weight guideline per size is 4 kg for the 50 × 40 cm and 10 kg for the 60 × 48 cm. The smaller one suits a slight cat or a kitten past its first months; the larger is the safe choice for an average adult and the only one we would recommend for a Maine Coon, a Norwegian or a Ragdoll. When a cat sits between the two, take the larger — a bed that is too big still gets slept in, a bed that is too small does not.
It is machine washable. Treat it as a cold wash and air-dry it, which is what a polyester-fibre filling tolerates without matting.

Put the bed on the spot the cat has already chosen instead of the spot you had in mind, and leave something in it that smells of the household — a worn t-shirt works better than anything sold for the purpose. Raised rims and enclosed shapes are usually taken up faster than flat mats, because a cat wants something at its back.
It depends on how your cat already sleeps, and you know the answer without asking: a cat that curls up in cupboards and under beds wants an enclosed one, while a cat that sprawls in the middle of the floor will ignore a cave and use an open bed. In a household with two cats, one of each is a safer bet than two of the same.
Wash it before it needs it rather than after — every few weeks, and always at the end of a moult. What this particular bed allows is set out under Care & assembly, since some wash whole and others have a cover that lifts off. An afternoon airing in the sun does more than any spray.
Cats accept new things on their own timetable. Put it where your cat already chooses to be — the sunny corner, the room the household uses most — and leave it alone for a few days rather than presenting it. A little catnip helps on anything meant to be slept on or scratched. Anything worn or handled should be left out to be sniffed and walked away from several times before you use it.
