Varenna is 170 cm on a 60 × 40 cm base, and it is one of only two towers here with a tunnel — in this case a vertical one, so a cat climbs up through the structure rather than around its outside.
An enclosed vertical passage does something an open post cannot: it gives a cat a covered way up, and a place to stop halfway where nothing can see it. Cats use it at speed, and they wait in it.
60 × 40 cm at the third level for lying fully stretched, 50 × 40 cm at the fifth, and two narrower 24 × 40 cm platforms that work as steps between them. On top, a nest of 40 × 40 cm with a 10 cm rim.
One square, one round, with a 20 cm circular entrance on the square one. Cats have preferences about corners — some want them, some avoid them — and having both shapes on one tower covers either. A round hammock of 30 cm and a 33 × 20 cm ladder complete the arrangement.
Thick enough not to give when a cat sets its claws and pulls. Three balls hang from the frame.
The limit is 5 kg. Read it conservatively, as 5 kg per cat, and if you have a large animal, choose a model with a higher per-cat figure.

Stability comes from the base, not from the height. Compare the base dimensions with the overall height in the specifications: a wide base under a tall frame is what stops a tower rocking when a cat lands on the top platform from the side. Where an anti-tip strap is included it is listed under Care & assembly, and above about a metre and a half we would fit it even when the base feels solid on its own.
Near a window, against a wall, in the room where people actually sit. Cats climb in order to watch, so a tower facing a blank corner gets ignored while the same tower by a window is used every day. Keep it away from the litter tray and the food bowls — cats separate those places from where they sleep.
Move it next to the thing being scratched rather than to a tidy corner. Cats scratch along the routes they already use, not where we would prefer them to. Rub the posts with catnip for the first week and put a blanket that smells of the household on the lowest platform. Most refusals turn out to be a placement problem rather than a product one.
Cats accept new things on their own timetable. Put it where your cat already chooses to be — the sunny corner, the room the household uses most — and leave it alone for a few days rather than presenting it. A little catnip helps on anything meant to be slept on or scratched. Anything worn or handled should be left out to be sniffed and walked away from several times before you use it.
