Merano is a full-height indoor cat tower: 170 cm tall, on a base measuring 50 × 40 cm. Five levels sit above that base, and the climb between them is short enough at each step that a cat can go from floor to top platform without a single long jump.
The tower carries two enclosed caves — one with a single round opening, one with a wide entrance and three smaller portholes cut into the front — a deep raised basket on the upper right, a hammock slung between the lower posts, and a cushioned top platform with a raised rim along its edges. Cats choose their resting spot by height and by how enclosed it is, and Merano offers both extremes on one frame: the hammock sits low and open, the top platform sits at 170 cm, and the two caves close in around a cat that wants to be out of sight. In a two-cat household that means each animal can hold its own level.
The vertical posts are wrapped in natural sisal rope in bands, alternating with plush. Because the sisal sits between the levels rather than only at the bottom, a cat passes a scratching surface on almost every stage of the climb, standing at full stretch rather than crouched at floor height.
The structure is built from particleboard panels, covered in plush, with a thick particleboard base plate. Assembled, the tower weighs 17.9 kg — that mass in the base is what keeps a tall, narrow tower planted when a cat lands on the top platform from the side. The maximum total static load is 80 kg for the whole structure.
Merano arrives flat-packed in a box of 52 × 42 × 29 cm weighing 19.3 kg, and is assembled at home. An anti-tip kit and an accessory bag are supplied; we would use the anti-tip kit on any tower this tall, and particularly on a hard floor.
Hair, dust and debris lift off the plush with a sticky lint roller or a vacuum. The top platform is removable and washable; treat the rest of the tower as wipe-and-roller only.

Stability comes from the base, not from the height. Compare the base dimensions with the overall height in the specifications: a wide base under a tall frame is what stops a tower rocking when a cat lands on the top platform from the side. Where an anti-tip strap is included it is listed under Care & assembly, and above about a metre and a half we would fit it even when the base feels solid on its own.
Near a window, against a wall, in the room where people actually sit. Cats climb in order to watch, so a tower facing a blank corner gets ignored while the same tower by a window is used every day. Keep it away from the litter tray and the food bowls — cats separate those places from where they sleep.
Move it next to the thing being scratched rather than to a tidy corner. Cats scratch along the routes they already use, not where we would prefer them to. Rub the posts with catnip for the first week and put a blanket that smells of the household on the lowest platform. Most refusals turn out to be a placement problem rather than a product one.
Cats accept new things on their own timetable. Put it where your cat already chooses to be — the sunny corner, the room the household uses most — and leave it alone for a few days rather than presenting it. A little catnip helps on anything meant to be slept on or scratched. Anything worn or handled should be left out to be sniffed and walked away from several times before you use it.
